This page contains general tourist links, places to go for the day and then lists of recommended restaurants. For a list of guide books  in the property see Equipment  page. There is also a laminated full size map at the property showing where the attractions are in relation to Southbourne.

So much ..so near from Hengistbury Head on your doorstep to Sandbanks a short drive. Look at the tourist sites for Christchurch and Bournemouth ( with its 100 things to do and see).

Cycle hire - we recommend     http://www.forestleisurecycling.co.uk/   with branches in the New Forest ( a drive away and great to visit) or Boscombe which is 10 minnutes away.

Plus the New Forest is 20 minutes away from Beach View - go via "Forest Road" Christchurch - then 5 minutes from there is Burley in the New Forest (near Ringwood) - cycles to hire, pubs and wild horses wondering everywhere

Miris restaurant is a few minutes walk from Beach View and is ranked number one restaurant the whole of Bournemouth in TripAdvisor in June 2016. We have not eaten there as you need to book in advance so read the reviews and decide. www.hikercafe.co.uk  - you can walk from the house to this ( go right when comong out door of house with back to house) - we prefer to drive along coast and park at car park there. We then have option of eating there (where food is beter and more reasonable) or taking or walking to Beach Houyse cafe below on the unique strip of land. See pictures on "More pictures" page which shows easy walk from Hiker cafe to top of Hengistbury Head and amazing views.

www.russell-cotes.bournemouth.gov.uk/   - nice cafe in a lovely museum facing the sea just  minutes from Bournemouth  where kids can sometimes partake in activities while you eat - this is a must do and very reasonabe and informal.

P.s next door to them is the award winning Splinters resturant but not advisable with kids and atmosphere sort of frightens us but you may want to give it a whirl.
     

www.west-beach.co.uk highly rated (according to the Times best place to eat) restaurant on the sea front just past the Oceanarium

Pier West - (01202) 306155 - new and right on the end of Bournemouth Pier -  In between the children’s funfair and the Pier Theatre sits Key West restaurant, " a place that’s great for relaxing and enjoying the views after a long day at the beach"



www.chezfred.co.uk - this is in Westbourne (about 15 minutes from Beach View) and the area is well worth a visit for up market shops plus a big M&S - the fish shop is a former winner of "Best fish and chip shop in Great Britain" - with picures of prime ministers and film stars who have visited it on the walls-  and all for £5.90 for a fish and chips (eat in) in the smart Westbourne area just a few minutes from the town centre of Bournemouth (do not go to Harry Ramsden's! fish and chip shop). Make sure you book for eat in and takeaway as queues go out the door - call 01202 761023

Just a few doors from Beach View is an established therapy business based in a beautiful cliff top home.
